Massachusetts Hospital Closings Leave Communities Reeling

Steward Hospital just closed its third hospital in the wake of its bankruptcy proceedings; it’s also sold five of its hospitals throughout the process. The closure of Norwood Hospital, which has not been a viable option for residents for at least 10 months, does not shock Norwood Residents. However, the expected nature of the closure does little to dispel the devastation that the community will face regarding receiving accessible and affordable healthcare. This closure reflects a nationwide trend of large healthcare providers shutting down hospitals, leaving local patients stranded without healthcare. Read more about the Norwood closure here.
